The Backstory Drop Collection began with a simple question: Why don’t we let wearers have more choice?
One day, while reviewing a design presented by one of our brand partners (who oversees the creative process), I noticed a pair of earrings with a stunning dangle design at the back. The only issue? The stud at the front wasn’t my style. It felt like such a missed opportunity—I loved the back design, but the front felt too bold for my minimalist wardrobe. I remember asking her, Why can’t we let people choose their own combination?
Her response was thoughtful:We don’t currently have a simpler version.But then she paused, and an idea sparked.What if we created a collection that focuses solely on the backs? A collection where customers could pair them with their own studs—whether simple, bold, or anything in between?
The concept immediately resonated with us. The idea of empowering wearers to customise their earrings based on their mood, style, or even the occasion felt liberating. Imagine mixing and matching, wearing a single side, or pairing intricate designs with understated studs. The creative freedom this offers to reflect individuality and personality made us both excited to bring it to life.
Of course, when we approached our production studio, the idea was met with some confusion. A collection focused only on earring backs? It wasn’t conventional. But we stood firm, investing extra time and resources to make it happen, because this collection represents what we want to offer: a sense of freedom. It’s not about following rules—it’s about creating your own.
The Backstory Drop Collection isn’t just about versatility; it’s about empowering wearers to express themselves, piece by piece. Whether you prefer minimalist designs or something more extravagant, these backs allow you to make a statement that's entirely your own.
